GPOYW: the “i don’t want you guys to forget what i look like” edition.
i’m the one in the middle. my friends and i had a very coup-de-tête (impulsive) moment last friday when we decided to make a day-trip to vienne.
it’s this really small town with ancient roman ruins about 40 minutes south of lyon by train. for less than 10-euros, it was a really awesome place to visit.

i could eat cheese all day — and thanks the good fromagiers here in lyon, i can!
i’ve recently come to love and appreciate french cheese. my stomach doesn’t agree so much with my newfound love of dairy, but to lactose intolerance i say: pfft…and sorry.

this is a travelog that i created before i moved to lyon. it’s my way to keep track of my travels and a way for my friends and family to keep up with me.

the entries are pretty wordy, but if you’re curious about my overseas endeavors — go ahead and give it a peek. i just didn’t want to clog anyone’s dashboards with travel essays.

anyway, i’ve almost been in france for a month now and it’s been quite the emotional roller-coaster. i went from being amped on life to being so terribly homesick that i don’t even want to eat (a travesty because i am in lyon, france’s gastronomic capital) or get out of bed.

baguettes and fromage for lunch by the rhone — life couldn’t be better.
anyway, the past couple of weeks of living in france have been amazing. getting situated and trying to navigate the city has ben quite an adventure! in any case, i hope everyone’s doing well (and more pictures to come, i promise).

WHAT I HAD FOR BREAKFAST:

  • une baguette
  • deux croissants
  • une part de fromage
  • cafe avec sucre

travels, so far, have been pleasant. i spent all of yesterday in london (awesome), but i’m safe in lyon now (i shared a cab and didn’t get sold into sex slavery — double awesome).

we’re 9 hours ahead of california, so i’m going to walk around the city in a bit. i’m trying to get acclimated and less directionally retarded — we’ll se how it goes.

it’s usually never cold enough in santa barbara to wear these without looking silly.
but by the end of the week, i’ll be living in the french alps — where wearing earmuffs are considered socially acceptable. i’m half-way done packing, with 24 hours to go!

salt ponds at the don edwards san francisco bay national wildlife refuge — i think that, more than anything, i’m going to miss the bay area while i’m overseas.
santa barbara, isla vista, and los angeles: you guys are fun, but it just isn’t going anywhere. i’m sorry, but san francisco has my heart. it’s not you, it’s me. no, don’t do that — please don’t cry, we can still be friends. there are plenty of other fish in the sea who will love you for you.
