bacon-wrapped hot dogs will always remind me of new year’s eve 1999 because my brother, cousin, aunt, and i spent new year’s eve in pasadena — camped out in the street, waiting for the rose parade to start first thing in the morning.
if my memory serves me — at around 11:45, vendors come out and sell these beauties for $1 each. we all bought four or five of them, eating two — and throwing the rest at cars driving by, followed only by cream-filled tortillas. have you ever thrown food at a car before? when you’re 12, throwing food at cars makes you feel like a total rebellious bad-ass.
